Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s different about ThermoSteam boilers?
A: ThermoSteam boilers are the only packaged steam boilers built with a vertical, tubed design. Our unique helical water tube provides fast, efficient steam generation in a compact design. In horizontal boilers, the water is passed by the heater several times, reducing efficiency. In our boilers, the water is continuously exposed to heat.

Q: OK, but where does the return tank go?
A: It is built in! The condensate returns to the inner jacket of the boiler, where it is preheated before going back into the tube, increasing the efficiency of the heat exchange even more.

ONLY ThermoSteam boilers have a built-in return tank.
ThermoSteam boilers are easier to install and take less space than any other brand.

Q: Why would I want to use a multi-tube boiler?
Multi-tube boilers provide a number of advantages. In addition to fast, efficient heat exchange and ease of maintenance you get with any ThermoSteam boiler, multi-tube boilers provide both flexibility and redundancy.
- Flexibility Each boiler has its own controls. So, if your demand has big peaks, you can add step firing capabilities. When demand peaks, all burners will fire. When demand lessens, one or more boilers will automatically shut off, resulting in significant energy savings
- Redundancy If one burner needs maintenance, you can continue to operate your business using the other burner(s).
In addition, multi-tube boilers will frequently fit in boiler rooms or through boiler room doors where a single, larger boiler doesn’t.

Q: Why is the ThermoSteam boiler a better boiler for my dry cleaning application?
A: The ThermoSteam boiler is the only boiler specifically designed to meet the needs of the dry cleaning industry. These needs are:
- Compact Size. The boiler must be compact to minimize use of expensive floor space. - ThermoSteam's compact vertical design with built-in return tank has the smallest footprint in the industry.
- Economy - ThermoSteam costs less to buy, less to install, less to run and less to maintain.
- Reliability - Our boiler is rugged and long lived. It is simple for the owner to maintain using readily available parts. All parts, including the heat exchanger, are replaceable. The heat exchanger in most competitive boilers cannot be replaced and a scaled up heat exchanger mandates a very expensive total boiler replacement.

Q: If I have an old ThermoSteam boiler with several major parts in need of repair, what should I do?
A: Have your local ThermoSteam dealer or service organization inspect the boiler and give you a repair quote. Every part on a ThermoSteam boiler is replaceable and the total repair cost is usually far less than the cost of boiler replacement.

Q: If I have an old ThermoSteam boiler that needs to be replaced, why is a new ThermoSteam boiler my best choice?
A: The current generation of ThermoSteam boilers are significantly improved over pre-1997 units. New boilers are more efficient more user friendly and have more durable construction than earlier models. In addition, if you buy almost any other boiler, you will need to:
- Make available more space for your new boiler and its associated return tank (ThermoSteam is the only boiler with a built-in return tank).
- Spend unnecessary dollars on installation costs ( a new ThermoSteam boiler will fit right in where the old one was, other brands will require total re-plumbing and rewiring).
- Be prepared to change the whole boiler out if the heat exchanger gets scaled up (ThermoSteam's heat exchanger can be easily and economically replaced).

Q: Where do I go to get parts for my ThermoSteam boiler?
A: ThermoSteam boilers use standard controls, valves and components manufactured by reputable companies with established national distribution systems. These parts can be purchased from boiler parts distributors across the United States. Parts which are proprietary to ThermoSteam are available either from your local ThermoSteam Distributor or direct from the ThermoSteam factory. Contact the factory at:
